Arai is housed in an 18th-century historic building. Its façade preserves the original sgraffito decorations, regarded among the finest of their period and recognised as part of the city's Architectural, Historical and Artistic Heritage. Known as the House of the Four Rivers because of its sgraffito façade, the building housed the Escola Massana and the Foment de les Arts Decoratives until 1935, an association originally founded by artists and industrialists from Barcelona.

The rooms are decorated using high-quality natural materials. They also preserve remarkable features from the building's history, including original 18th-century stone walls and, in keeping with the architectural standards of the period, high ceilings and large windows on the lower floors, together with vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams and hydraulic mosaic floors featuring geometric patterns. The impressive headboards are decorated with restored original architectural elements, including traditional Catalan ceramics and wooden shutters.
